The heat build up buildup in the coupe gets considerable on warm days & the air cond. doesn't help much. Anybody have some ideas/products that have been used to cut down the buildup? Window tint... insulation products specific to cars that are better than the old felt?

When I first got my 82...the driver side was hot as He##. There's a couple of rubber grommets that goes through the firewall make sure they're still there.(Mine was poped out) One's about 2" and the other about 1". At night.. take a light and find any holes. A cut off valve on you heater hose will help your air, or bypass the heater box. Of course, as mentioned many times here.....more air moment is what is really needed. You can do a search for that. Larry
I used Dynamat Extreme throughout the whole car. It did cut down on the heat and noise a bit. The womans legs no longer "cook" over on the passenger side. That's where the exhaust is routed along on an '81 as you probably already know that. My rear window is tinted "limo black." Sucks to see out of at night. But I learned to live with it. I put in blackout inserts in the glass t-tops to. Make sure your weatherstripping is all good also.
I switched my system over to R134A upon replacing all the A/C components during restoration. It does good up until 80-85 degrees & high humidity. But God forbid it goes over 90 deg w/high humidity. It get's a might bit toasty in there. But it's still slightly cooler than outside.
My.02 cents

i am the corvette heat freak. super freak actually.. after dynamat analy applied ( two commercial boxs ) multiple layers of any good insulating product seamed with aluminum ac duct tape. then your new carpet. its a big job literally 50 hours or more contact time. the more care you take the happier you will be. ive done this to one 70 and two 82's. in miami if you want to use the car during the day especially if its been sitting in the sun every little bit helps. after the interior is done you go through the ac system. the best modification ive done is to increase the size of the blower fan. multiple posts on this as well. another source of heat is the exhaust. even though i have headers and sidepipes i still wrapped the tubes all the way to where they exit to the side. tinting windows and those glass t top static inner liners help as well. if you can hear air from your top and door seals illiminate it. this is a nightmare of a different animal but once its done you wont be wasting the cold air youve fought so hard for. oh park in the shade

had same problems on mine.i used a infored gun to check for heat coming into the car and then i checked for ac leaks .check all your air ducting
My dad put some stock heat mat down and then glued 5 layers of heavy duty aluminum foil together and put them down. His car doesnt even get warm now. We were driving the other and I had to tell him to turn the air down becuase it was too cold.
