Default Help getting studs out

I'm removing my EGR valve and bought a EGR block off plate, but the manifold has two studs screwed into it that held the EGR Valve. Even with the spacer and gaskets from the EGR in place, the block off plate is not high enough on the studs to put the nuts back on and tighten it down. I'd like to remove the studs but can't think of how to get them out. Tried to just get hold of it with pliers, but they just slip, and I don't want to screw up the threads. Any ideas on how to get these out?

Thanks

Tried double nut...no go. I was able to get one of them out using the trusty vise grips, but this other one is being a real bear. :boxing I know it can come out, I just can't get it out. :mad :smash:
