I saw some online a month ago; but dont remember where...they were either stainless or aluminized...I like...but I dont like rust, or polishing chrome, or gasket changing.

Somebody just recently posted a thread and one owner had some on a pic.

So...I need some facts/experience:
1 do any come with a 3/8" flange to reduce repeated gasket changing?

2 know of the stainless or aluminized with #1 above?

3 do they bolt up directly to the existing flanged exhaust pipe to manifild location without any other exhaust modifications?

4 do they actually create performance?...not audible performance, (ie. "sounds schhhweeet!"), but, a factual (albeit slight) HP gain which can also equate into better fuel mileage as well. (now read #5)

5 I recently put true duals on my 5.7L 99 Silverado...I called the only manufacturer of stainless shorty 3/8" flanged headers (Gibson)for the truck...he stated that since I already had 2 1/2" TRUE duals, with 2 free flowing cats, and 2 Thrush performance mufflers; I would hurt the performance vs. helping.
He stated: "I would love to sell you a set, but I have to honestly say you would be taking a step backwards in performance and fuel mileage because of not having enough back-pressure, and there is a possibility of burning a valve.

Would that also be correct information for my 50kmi., L-82 with true duals, super Turbo's and no cats?

I really like them and suspect performance...but I dont want to create more "usual maintenance" of polishing and r/r'ing gaskets, or lose HP because of #5.

I just wonder about the facts and who has time and experience with these installed.

Anybody?

Merci Bou coup!!

As long as you have something there, even just open headers, you have enough back pressure that you shouldn't burn a valve. Hp and performance and gas mileage are all different stories. The only true way to show any gains or losses in that area is to put it on a good wheel dyno. Other than that, you will never feel any gains or losses in hp from just exhaust.

I pretty much understand that..which is why I was asking for facts and experience.
The 99 Silverado was in now way going to get much more HP or performance value at all...I was looking for fuel economy...they also had a really good cool factor...lol

I was wanting to hear how many that had them actually showed/felt/experienced/benifited enough to justify the 3 or $400. clams.
Then there is 1,2, and 3.

Thanks,
