Been chatting with Lars and I'm finally going to get rid of the junk I've got and get a real carb. Looking at a BG Speed Demon. I see that this guy on ebay sells them at decent prices. Ebay name is richdesbiens. He's got nothing but positive feedback. Just wondering if anyone has bought a carb from him, if they're set up right, or if there's a better place to buy from, like Jeg's, etc. Thanks!
I bought my Mighty Demon from him about 1.5 years ago. Great guy to deal with, and very good prices...at least they were when I bought mine.
It was great to find out that he lives about 40 minutes south of me. I called and went to his place and bought it face to face.
He sells out of his 2.5 car garage (at least he did then) and I was shocked to see the quantity of carbs and other items he stocked. He had no less than 200+ Demon carbs all stacked up by size/type. Very orginized operation. When it comes time to buy another carb, it will be from him.
I've been looking at the carbs he sales for a while too. I think I'm going to wait a bit later in my engine build to buy one though. I noticed he sales both new and remanufactured BGs. Since we're kinda on the same topic here, would there be a reason to buy a new one over a remanufactured one if it comes with the same warranty and stuff? I've been burned on redone parts before and I'm wondering if carbs are the same.
Yeah, I've seen that he sells new and rebuilt. Part of me is attracted to the lower price of the rebuilt and the other part of me is wondering why it had to be rebuilt and how good the replacement parts are!
I also see on the Barry Grant site that they just came out with a new series of 750 Demons with annular boosters. Hmmmm. So maybe they will drop their prices a bit on the old models? I might wait a few weeks and see.
