Muncie M22 or T5 Conversion from 700R4
In an earlier thread I was asking advice as to which manual transmission would be best as a conversion from a 700R4 presently in my 71 convertible.
Looks like a T5 is the ticket at about $2300 (parts and labor). Does this seem to be the best conversion for the dollars? Any watchouts?

I am just about finished with my T5 conversion from a TH350 auto. I will have less than $1,500.00 in the swap. Several guys have done this conversion and are v ery happy with the results. The only factors to be aware of is: Be sure to get a T5 from a V/8 car, ford or chevy, and power hard power shifts into 3rd will cause 3rd to fail. It is the weak link in the T5. Norval had a T5 in his 600+ horsepower car and never had a problem, but he is the one that will tell you that it is a grat transmission and will take the horsepower as long as you shift into 3rd sensibly.

Hi Bernie. I was referred here by the c1 forum. I have a 60 I want to swap in a 5 speed. Have heard to much negative about keisler. Tell me more about your t5 swap. Linkage issues? Fit Issues? Location issues for the shifter?
