Default Ignition Problems, low voltage?...

Car has been sitting for 2 months. Switched out a MSD 6A (stopped working), for a 6AL. Can not get car to start. Even tried bypassing the MSD with aligator clips. Still nothing.

When I check voltage in 'Run' I only get 4 volts. When in 'Start' mode, I get 6 volts. Shouldn't I have around 9 and 12 volts respectively?

Any ideas on where to start troubleshooting?

Here's a bump to the top for you. Can't help much as I'm not familiar with the MSD. Where are you checking when getting the 4 and 6 volts??

Thanks for the bump. I disconnected the MSD, and measured voltage at the positive side of the coil, with key in run, then checked again while cranking the motor. 4 volts in run, 6 while cranking.

I am running points. Would a bad condensor cause such low readings?

Might also be good to charge your battery too since it's been sitting for two months.
