My T5 is complete
I took the camaro shifter apart and ground a flat spot to weld a spacer on. The shifter handle is a hurst replacement that i chose so I can use the Hurst sidewinder ****.
I drilled and tapped the block so I can change to any Hurst shifter.
this gave me a half an inch on each side.
I didn't end up using the washers still had plenty of room.
Here is the console re-assembled.
Here is the hydraulics. I used AN 4 stainless, cost me 20 bucks with the fittings compared to 80 bucks for the truck hose.
Here is the drive shaft, I'm going to have to dollie the tunnel a little since the tail is 2 1/2" longer. The cable has plenty of room the angle of the picture makes it look close.
I want to thank Norval, Carguy, and Bernie for the help. I don't think this project would have gone so smooth with out the input.
Next is the Rack and Pinion
I will keep my eyes open for the post on you first drive. Bernie is also getting close.
Good luck and glad to help
I think I have the same shifter; love the feel of the location. I need to grind a little from the top of the transmission shifter to clear the console and make an adapter to move it over to the left a little. Your pics look great! I'm going today to get a steel brake line and silicone fluid to hook up the hydraulics. I wish that my clutch fork cleared the floor the way yours did, but it wasn't a big deal to cut the floor a little. I will get the steering column in this week and hopefully, we can compare test drives shortly.
You are correct, the help we received from Norval and Doug made this a low stress and fun project!
