Default Cam button

Is this cam button for roller cams only or should all cams be installed with this button to keep the cam from sliding ?

Only roller cams require the button. On a flat tappet cam the grind on the lobes and bottom of the lifters push the cam to the back of the engine.

Thanks

My cam doesn't have the button (flat tappet cam) - for a minute I thought I found the source of my clicking noise.

If you run headers a leak sounds just like a bad lifter. That's where I would look

I've been chasing this noise for over a year now and I think I have done anything I possibly can.... new hearders and gaskets, locking bolts... new distributor... checked everything else several times (timing chain, fuel pump a.s.o.)

This engine is coming apart anyway after I get my stroker assembled and installed, then I will find out what it is.... this is driving me crazy for too long....

It's a relatively loud clicking noise that appears to be coming from the rear of the engine. It's only under low load, let's say at 45mph when you touch the gas pedal just enough to keep a steady speed... it's clicking like crazy... then when I push the gas pedal just a little to accelerate to 50 or 55 it's gone.... as soon as I drive under low again it's clicking, ticking, rattling....

Also when the car is parked, the hood open and with the tranny in 'park' it makes this noise when I pull the carburetor linkage and keep the rpm at approximately 2000 - 2500..... only when I hold the rpms there it would make this noise, as soon as I open the throttle it's gone....
