Default replacing 76 streering wheel

I'm in the process of restoring my interior. I am working on the steering column right now, and will be pulling the steering wheel soon. I know that the 76 has a one year only steering wheel, I would like to replace it with something else. Is there any way to get another type of steering wheel on with some kind of adapter? I would like to keep a functioning horn. Any instructions on actually removing the steering wheel? Thanks

Your 1976 steering column (not the steering wheel and attaching parts) is identical to the 1969 through 1975 steering columns. You can install any 1969 through 1975 production Vette steering wheels as well as any 1977 through 1982 production steering wheels as long as you have all the appropriate attaching parts. Any steering wheels that are advertised as being a replacement for the productions wheels will work as long as you have the appropriate attaching parts.

Here are two papers that describe what you need.

The papers also reference a couple more scans from the AIM books that should help you understand what you need.

Good luck,
JIM

Thanks for the info, it definitely helps! Does it matter if I have a tilting steering column?

The T&T steering column just requires some additional telescope lock hardware. The 1976 (one year only) telescope locking ring and horn buttons are unique. But the same issues described in my previous post. The T&T column is exactly the same 1969 through 1976.

The links aren't working at this time, I didn't get a chance to save the info. Does anyone have the info saved or another link? Thanks
