So it rained 2.5" here last night and my passenger side carpet is completely saturated. I think the water is coming in through an area forward of the door, like maybe from the wiper tray? I've heard that this can happen sometimes. In any case the water is dripping in from the heater area sometimes, but a little also may be coming in from under the kick panel. Does anyone have a picture of what I need to modify to stop this leak?
I hope it does not have rust problems in the windsheild frame.
Check and make sure the drain hole is clear on that side below the vent opening that goes from the fender to the inside of the car.
When I was rinseing the wiper panel on my car I noticed that water was pouring in the vent. When I had the outside heater/ a/c box out I check the drain and it was completely blocked. You would be surprised how much stuff was under the vent. The only way I know you can check it without removeing the outside box is trying to stick your hand thru the vent or use a vacum hose and work it in this small opening. You may get buy with useing an air hose and blowing the stuff out.
Previous post is right on. I use a vaccum hose hanging into the hole and then agitate the goo in the bottom with a air nozzle that has a long tube on it (homemade) and let the vacuum suck it up. Worked great, and it's the first thing to try. If it doesn't solve the problem, post again and there are lots more ideas this group will pass along, or e-mail me.
How is your weatherstripping? Specifically, the piece on th ewindshield pillar and the front half of the door weatherstrip. If they are not in good shape, or are not sealing against each other, water can enter the cabin at that point. It will then proceed to run down the front of the door/kick panel and then onto the carpet. If this is happening, it looks like the water is coming in from under the kick panel.
Try running some soapy waterdown the front of the window area and see where the soap trail leads.
Finding leaks can take time, so be patient. Good Luck
