Engine won't crank

Here's the story, I pulled the differential to repalce the seals, the other day I thought I might start the girl up since she hasn't run in a few weeks, but now the engine won't crank. The differential isn't back in the car yet, which I don't think should matter. The radio comes on and the lights come on, last night I checked the voltage at the battery and it has 12.25 volts. It acts like the neutral safty switch is bad, I ran a continuity test on it and it checks good. I don't have a wiring diagram, so I'm not sure where to check next. The car was running the day I started to remove the differential, so I know it will run. The car is a 73 L-46 with automatic trans. Any ideas?? I'm sure it will be something simple, but it is bugging me until I fix it. Thanks

Not being smart but could have not put the car in park or neutral ? If you are getting power thru the safty switch then check for power at the small wire on the starter with the key turned to the start position .

I understand, but I tried the shifter in every position and still no go. I'll check for volteage at the starter. Thanks for the input.

I just recently had a similar problem. Everything came on and such, but would not crank. Battery was fine. It turned out to be a loose cable to the starter.
