Default 68 BB Radiator ???????????'S

I have C-shaped brackets with a rubber gasket inside that holds the edge of the tanks in place. I have access to an aftermarket aluminum rad. that will be wider than stock. This will mean that the c-shaped brackets will touch the top and bottom of the rad. core and not the tanks. Will the rubber inside the brackets secure and protect the rad. or is there a better way? Picures of mounts, brackets and rad covers will be appreciated.

I wouldn't do that. Not as familiar with 68 as other years, but I think the correct "C" shaped brakets are available for the width radiator you need.

It would seem that they would need to be offset to the outside by aprox. 1-1/2". I am unaware of a part to do this. Anyone???

I wouldn't do this either. I'd look in to cutting off the existing brackets from the main support and having them rewelded outboard to line up with your tanks. It would be a small price to pay, and a relatively easy job, compared to wrecking an aluminum radiator by mounting it improperly.

In previous threads(to old to search apparently) there were members running wider than stock aftermarket rad's and I was hoping they would chime in as to the way they mounted them.

Do not try to support the radiator by the core. The 68 BB radiator and core support is different than any other C3 setup. Any information you find will not be applicable to your car. You need to support the radiator at the end caps/tanks not the core and the 68 BB is only 22.5 inches.

I would do what LemansBlue68 said, cut off the lower supports (or buy new ones), weld them on in the correct place and make or modify the upper support brackets.
