Default ATTENTION - NCRS gurus.

While replacing my master cylinder, I cleaned the firewall area of road dirt.

Should this area be painted and if so with what do you reccommend?

I am not looking for total correct restoration, but if I have an ugrade or resto to do I would like to try to do the proper way.

The firewall on my '70 is blacked out with a semiflat black. Krylon Semiflat is a good match color & sheen wise. The booster itself is gloss black. Not extreme show gloss, but certainly the glossiest thing in the engine bay. BTW, there's now a "Factory Correct Restoration" board here too. :seeya

Kaiserbud, the black out should extend about half way down the firewall. In fact it begins to fade out about the time you get just around the tops of the splash shields that are attached to the lower firewall.

You will have to buy a gallon to get the "right stuff", but a good semi-gloss black should work fine. Some will argue that it should be flatter, but I am not convinced; I think it was applied very thinly, and over time they begin to look flatter. If you prefer use a semi-flat black.

As Juliet said, come see us over at the Factory Correct Resto board. :D
