Truckclean is the best. Use a good pair of rubber boots and a thick pair of pants. That stuff is agressive and if you're not carefull you'll be able to peel your skin off your legs :D
Actually dirt works pretty good to soak up stains, then just wash away.
Check with commercial supply houses, they should have some solvents to clean the surface.
You could also look into borrowing or renting a high pressure spray rig. They are usually strong enough the start removing the actually concrete or asphault if you hold it close enough.
I have pretty good results just using oil absorbent you buy in bags at the local parts house, sprinkle it around leave it overnight, smear it around with a broom if you want, and it leaves a clean spot.
Hi ZD,
I asked the same thing here about 2 months ago and never really got a good answer. I went to Home Depot and bought ZEP Garage floor cleaner. It's actually for concrete, stucco, masonry, etc. Worked pretty good. I poured it on straight, scrubbed with a deck brush, and let it soak for about 10 minutes. Then I either hose it off or suck it up with a shop vac.
Good Luck :seeya
I have had pretty good results using kitty litter. I put the litter on for a day or two and then clean it up. Then I use Simple Green undilluted after I wet the floor. I let it set for an hour and scrubbed it and it all cleaned up. Hope this helps. :seeya
How heavy duty are you floor stains? Someone suggested to me once to use varsol and a very stiff brush. Allthough there are specific floor stain cleaners they are geared for the general consumer and aren't as strong as something in the industrail line.
I'll probably end up blowing myself up one of these days but if I can't wash the whole area down (due to on going work) I have a routine for spot cleaning that works really well. First I wipe as much up as I can with newspaper and disposable blue shop towels. Then I use mineral spirits (AKA Varsol, paint thinner, etc.) and wipe again. My final step is to pour acetone or lacquer thinner on it and wipe again.
This will get 99% of the stain up.
When I get my shop built this fall I'm going to either epoxy coat the floor or lay down some kind of chemical proof floor covering. I hate oil stains!
I buy the biggest container of good old lighter fluid I can find at K-Mart, and use it and paper towels or old throw away shop rags on all oil spots on my smooth unpainted concrete garage floor...........works great!!! Also have used laquor thinner before as well, just make sure garage is well vented when using, and don't smoke for sure.
