Gosh, I just did the old quarter past tight when I put my headers on. I can't tell if the leak, cause with open headers I can't hear a darn thing.
Hopefully someone will chime in, and I may be out in the shop retightening them.
Header bolts are so hard to install even with a wrench, impossible with a socket, how could you possibly get a torque wrench on them. Anyway, 3/8" bolts in cast iron is usually 30 to 40 ft-lb.

I used a torque wrench on mine and got them all at about 35. Easiest way I could detect leaks there were to start the car and I used a spray bottle and just sprayed a little water on the header gasket area as I would pull back on the throttle and I just looked for small bubbling (obviously I had to do this when the car was cold). I did have a slight leak on one and just torqued it down a bit harder and it stopped leaking.
