I don't know how you would get the Hookers to mate with the Patriots...are the diameters correct?
I specifically picked the Hookers with the 3 inch diameter. I would remove the flange and use the clamps that came with the pipes so I could fit the covers. Have a friend who could do this no problems.
As for using shorties, I assumed using a pre-made setup would be better for flow.
The Hooker #SKU 2456 is not a side pipe header and it will not fit your 350. The picture they have is of a symmetrical exhaust port head. The Small Block Chevrolet has an asymmetrical exhaust port arrangement.

I was interessted in these, too. I saw this style header on Ebay several times and they're less than $200 and seem to fit fine. Some fabrication is necessary to adapt to the sidepipe ... A year ago I priced the parts for homemade sidepipes (3" to 4" adapters, 90 degrees ellbows, 4" straight pipes and more 90's for the exit.... ) not worth it, SS pipes are too expensive, just bought the Hooker set....
When I looked around to find headers that fit I found these:
they're still offered on Ebay for $365 buy it now (item number 8030281906)
I think this style would also fit with Patriot sidepipes:
I removed my Hedmann headers and test fit the new Patriot headers yesterday. The headers are located higher up and as such they won't drag on the ground. The flange connector is about level, and beside, the oil filter location.
These might work for those of you wanting to install sidepipes.
i just bought a set of the summit headman sidepipe headers. $136 is for the uncoated ones, $360 gets you the coated version. both summit and jegs sell them , but summit had them in stock when i called. they flanges are kind of thin and they are small. 1 5/8 primary, 3 inch collector if i recall. still they went on pretty easy. you will need to have a muffler shop conect them. i have a set of the big block version sitting around also. they to a small tube headers.
Well, I test fit the patriot headers several times and it all looked good....
so I went ahead and drilled them and welded in the O2 sensor bungs.
So I'm feeling quite fine right about then; get the passenger side done, and I go and install the driver side. It's all good since I already checked to ensure that for the clutch cross shaft.....well, this is where it got ugly.
I hook up the cross shaft and the I realize that the lever arm which is used to push the clutch rod and actuate the clutch doesn't have enough room to travel down! Bummer....
Since I already welded in the O2 bungs I can't return them. Now I'm going to have to modify the downward sweep. I'll just heat them up and move the lower tubes away from the block. It's going to ruin the coating though.
I gather they'd work fine in an automatic...but that's just conjecture.

Ouch...hope you manage to get them to fit without too many problems. Mine is an auto so they may well have been an ok fit for me. Just waiting on the Hedman 68280's to arrive from jegs!
should be doable. I've already bolted them onto a spare engine I have. I should be able to bend them away from the block...there's quite a bit of room from where they sit now and the steering assembly. Just hate to ruin the coating....oh well.
