TCI/Yoke Question

TCI/Yoke Question
1982 Corvette

TCI 371000 (700R4)
I am having to replace the original 700R4 on this, and I replaced it with the TCI 371000. I was told that it was a direct replacement, and that nothing else would have to be modified. The trouble is that the original Yoke only goes in a little bit and then stops. As opposed to going in all of the way in the original. It is the weekend, so no one is there at TCI or Summit where I bought it. Does any one know if I need to buy a different Yoke for it? Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.
