Shortly after we got our '76 Vette the 350 started making a bit of noise so I took it out and replaced it with one from a truck I don't use while I get the original one rebuilt. While I was switching I put a Performer intake, extreme energy 256 (I think) cam, new chain and a few other things as well as most new gaskets and seals. I was very dissapionted in the way it ran. It ran very nice, but not much guts to it. So I thought a new carb was the next step and was doing some reading here on the forum for opinions on which carb to buy. Someone mentioned to make sure you have wot from the pedal. So I checked that and sure enough was about a half inch from getting all there was. A little manual minipulation on the gas pedal arm and I suddenly have a car that really makes me smile! Wow, what a difference! So, Thanks to all who contribute the great advice on this forum! It's a nice feeling to actually "fix" something instead of just throw money and parts at it.

I had the same problem. I thought I was getting WOT until I pulled the cable off and turned it by hand. Turns out the plastic housing around the front of the accelerator cable was too long and wouldn't let the throttle open all the way up. It's amazing what kind of difference a few minutes with a pocket knife can make!
