Default Hello and help please

Hi to all. Have been lurking for sometime but am now the proud owner of a 1976 Vette!

I bought it privately here in the UK ( Hertfordshire ) and as I am not mechanically minded I asked a friend to look over it. All seems ok but the only thing I am concerned with is the sidepipes.

I am not sure if they are standard, well, looking at the very poor pipework under her and the number of welded sections ( looks like about 8 pieces of tube welded together on each side ) I assume not.

There are no leaks and they sound great but the furthest point of the outlet is 8 inches away from the rear tyre well. It seems to be too far into the door. This doesnt make sense does it?
What I mean is the sidepipe looks too short for the car! It looks as thought it should be at least another 6 inches long.

How far should the tip of the pipe be away from the rear wheel arch?

Other than that she seems to be very tidy. Will try to update my profile and upload some pictures. Again, not very computer savvy, my son is helping me!

Thank you all.

Sidepipes were not standard in '76.
