Ignition system worth the time and $$
I had my BB running fine with my stock HEI. Decided to go ahead and install a new Mallory Hyfire VI-AL, coil, and Mallory distributor acquired during the two year build. Now the car doesn't idle or start as good as it did with the plain HEI. Pulling the distributor and coil and replacing with the factory HEI.
Is there any advantage to using the Hyfire or MSD ignition system with the HEI or is it just a waste of $$? I do get a rev limiter out of the Hyfire.........Engine will turn 6000 max.

The only experience I have with aftermarket ignition systems is I replaced my factory coil with an aftermarket coil that has double the stock output voltage. I did notice an improvement in how smooth my engine ran.
