hi, who are the best differential builders for hi performance applications? apart tom's...i've contacted them a week ago and i'm still waiting for a reply...
thanks/Giu
I'm doing a performance diff now, heat treated 10-17's, steel cap, larger cap bolts,373's tune posi, etc, etc etc. Problem is the cost to ship to Italy would be very high.

Alan's Gear Works in Clearwater, FL, blueprinted my service replacement Dana 44 in the '80. This was an NOS unit I bought from dealership liquidation on eBay several years ago. It included all side yokes and the gullwing rear cover. Alan's mechanic verified it had never been turned (the blue paint was still on all of the gears and everything was pristine). They upgraded to Spicer 3.54 gears and blueprinted the entire unit. It has performed flawlessley (having followed their breakin procedure religiously).
Alan sold to new owner few years ago but the same fella that blueprinted my unit was still there last time I checked (the mechanic's his last name was Hutchinson if I recall correctly).
I don't know if Van Steel had a relationship with Alan's or not; for some reason, I think they did but I may be wrong.
