Chambered pipes have sections of dimpled pipe about 2-3 ft. long instead of mufflers. It's the same setup as original sidepipes - they make a VERY sweet sound, but too loud for some people's taste.
I also here that they are more restrictive.....In other words you might lose some HP...Might wann look a flowmaster or dynomax for sound and performance
I have a set of Allens Chambered on my 70 BB coup and will take them off soon. I like the tone and sound only for a short period of time, after that it's too loud. I went on the NCRS road tour a month ago and wished I had stock exhaust for that 1500 mile trip. Thad-TNT
I installed the chambered exhaust from Mid Anerica a few months ago and find them very loud. I don't like the sound from inside the car, but they sound good to those outside. They are so much less restrictive than the original pipes, I can feel the difference in power. I would probably chose the duel pipes and flowmasters if I had it to do over. These are lighter weight, though.
