Default Engine upgrades to a 80 corvette engine??

I am pondering my future upgrades to the 350 in my 80 corvette. It is an original L-48 matching numbers engine with the 76 cc smog heads. This block does have 4 bolt mains and I did switch out my 3.08 rear end last year for a 3.55. I am planning on doing the motor top to bottom in the future. I have limited knowlege and would like some opinions. I would like to have a respectable 350/ 350 type motor that is respectably streetable yet not uncomfortably lumpy type of an idle. I have been looking at the edelbrock power packages which with a change out of the heads, cam, intake , carb and a set of headers sounds pretty good. Or would I be better off stepping up to the RPM Performer package that goes to a taller intake , lumpier cam and different heads. The big difference that I can see is the first package is idle to 5500 rpm and the later is 1500 to 6500 rpm . Are these factors that should change my descision. Then the next option would be going with 383 stroker and the trick flow top end set up. I hear all the praises of the great torque from these stoker motors. All and any ideas would be appreciated. Brent

I think JEGs has a "kit" that will produce 400HP out your block.
