Default 1969 Tire Size?

This is my Dad's '69 coupe. He purchased it last year with these tires on it.

They are P255/60R15's.

They rub a little in the front when turning plus I think they make the car sit too high. I'd like to put smaller tires on so I can lower the front a little to get a better stance. I can't lower it any more right now because the tires are in the way. These are just huge.

I'm thinking of keeping all four the same size. What size should be on this? Any pictures?

Default 1969 Tire Size?

I'm running P225/70R15's on my '69 coupe.

No problems. Drives great. Handles great. Rides great.

BTW, it looks kinda different. That's just because it's up on jack stands.

Dave

P.S. Please excuse the mess. Too many jobs going on at one time.

The orginal tire size with modern tires is 215/70-15. They are not as common as the 225/70s most people use.

Me, I run 245ZR45-17s on my '69 and 215R70-15s on my '61.

255/60R15 on all 4 corners here. If you go to a shorter tire, then you will have a larger gap between the top of the tire and the fender. A better way to lower the front is to cut the coil springs or install shorter springs. I had to cut 1/2 coil from my 460# springs to get back down to where the car was with 550# coils.
