Is there suppose to be one there or not? When I got the car all the emission stuff was gone. So I ordered a heat riser valve and it came with a gasket. Now it's leaking after 5 years and I'm trying to find a replacement gasket locally. But after searching and going to different stores nobody has a part number for it. The gasket would go in between the exhaust manifold and the heat riser and would be a flat gasket not the donut.
So is there or is there not a gasket? Thanks for the help.
When my heat riser gasket developed a leak way back when, I drove it to the local Midas and they had one and replaced it for me. I don't believe it is a hard gasket to come across.
I may have to resort to removing it and bringing it to a muffler place or bring it to a local part store and have them physically match it up. I can't imagine GM would use different gaskets for all their Blazers and Trucks run the same heat riser setup.
Went out to the shop and looked at My 79,and it does not appear to
have a gasket between the heat riser and manifold. This is a 15000
mile car and I wonder if they came originally without a gasket.
Get rid of the heat riser. If you were to install headers you wouldn't have one anyway. I don't have one on my '79 and it still doesn't take it that long to warm up without it. If it were to freeze closed it would cause problems anyway. Just a thought.
