Default Rear end question.....again

Sorry, I know we've been here before...
P225/70R15...27.4 inch diameter?
At 60 MPH I'm seeing 2500 RPM in 3rd gear (auto)...the programs I can find on the internet are showing I have a 3.40 rear end...is that right?

In 76 the following were offered: code OA-3:08, code OD and LR-3:36
code OB-3:55 and codeOC-3:70.

OK, GOOD!!...thank you chevylit, so considering that I may have the wheel diameter off by just a bit, and the calculator showed 3.40, I would assume the closest to that would be 3.36 gears....yes? I can't believe it would be a 3.55, that's .15 off and 3.36 is only .04 off, or considering the 60 mph/2500 rpm might be off one side or the other, would I be correct to say, being a stock rear end, that I'm running 3:36's...YES?

The codes are stamped (not cast) on the bottom of the rear end
housing. You could check to see what ratio You have for sure but I
think You are correct with the 3:36 number.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking...once it warms up around here again, I'll be back under the car and I'll check the stamp, but it looks like from what you told me, being the 3:36's came in two different styles, it was probably what they put in most of the vettes back then, just a stock, standard rear end, for those that didn't care what was back there, just as long as they could buy a vette...
Very good...you've been very helpful, chevylit...thanks much!!

Chevylit?...one more question...do you know if which, OD 3:36 or LR 3:36, represents a posi rear end and do you know if the "stamp" on the rear end will show that information (OD or LR)??
Thanks...

You should also note that the actual tire height does not always match the calculation.

I have a set of 275/60/17 which should calculate to be 31" but when on the vehicle, the measured roll-out is only 30.25"

Corrected tire diameter is Radius x 2.

chevylit: Would you happen to have the axle codes for '71 handy?

Last one...I promise...
Just went out and measured the radius X 2= it's just a little over 27, like 27.1 inches...dropped it into the calc'r...came in at 3:36 right on the nose!!
COOL!!
