Reason: Incomplete Title
It has a stock ignition now except for a " Points Eliminator" MSD .
The mag I can get is in perfect condition, won't cost me a dime until after it's dialed in and installed , and only then after a month of driving and cruise nights and no problems it will cost me 80.00+ set up.
If not, we yank it out !
He's got one on a 40 Ford (BB) and lives by these things. " If set up right, it won't leave you stranded "
We go back a long way, and I trust him.
You sound/look skeptical about these units, have you ever tried one on the street ??
Magnitoes have been and still are used on small gas airplanes without any problems. Don't see why they couldn't be used on cars. Just a thought.

I've been running a Vertex Mag since 1977 on my '68 small block Vette, and I like it. It isn't cheap to set up though, and the magnets need to be recharged after so many years of operation (I'm not sure of the time interval as my car has sat for long intervals while I raised my family and built our home). Also if you use an electric tach you need a converter box. The car always fires right up and runs like heck. The Mag will work fine on a stock or modifed engine as long as it is set up right. I send mine out for set up and servicing.
