Default Rear monospring 330#?

So many choices for a rear monospring for my 72 sb. Help! Is the 330# spring (8" bolts) from VB&P a good unit? Want to improve the handling - I'm also adding QA1 shocks. I assume that the 300 would be soft and on the mushy side. In looking through corvettefaq I saw a paper on this conversion (not sure of the spring rating) and the rear end was lifted up over the rear tires. I don't want that to happen. Any input on the specifics is appreciated.

I ran that spring for a number of years and was very satisfied with it.

That was probably the TRW design spring. Stick with VBP. I'm running the 300 lb and like it. It's not too soft however mine's a little light in the rear.

I feel that for a nice handling street setup that's capable of taking on most road conditions, a soft spring coupled with large stiff sway bars and premium shocks is the hot setup.

I just sold my 330# spring yesterday to a local guy here on the forum. The 330 spring seems to be a good upgrade from the stock one. I had good luck with it along with the rear sway bar, which I might be selling also now that it does not fit with the 10 inch rims.

Thanks Gordon and everyone else for their input. I just ordered the 330# spring from VB&P and asked about a sway bar. They recommended the 1 1/8" so I added that to the order. Then, it was on to Jeg's to order the QA1 shocks. Already on the way to me is a Wilwood brake package from Precision. Can't wait to dive into this project!

The 1 1/8 sway bar is for the front, right? What size bar for the rear? What coil spring rates are you using in the front? Lots of questions I know, but I'm thinking of swapping to mono leaf rear as well.

Right. The 1 1/8 bar is the front. Coil springs are stock right now but I'm leaning toward the transverse monospring conversion for the front sometime in the future. No sway bar in the rear, yet.

I have the 1 1/8 front bar and had the 3/4 inch rear bar. I had the 460 coils in front and am now running 550s in the front and I have on order a 400# rear spring and will run with no sway bar.
