When I turn the key I hear a click from the engine area and the interior lights dim way down and no start. After about the second or third time it starts. With the battery drain, click, and no start could it be the solenoid?
You probably have a flat spot on the actual starter. If the starter is old or has a lot of starts on it, it's probably worth the security to get a new one. I had a Blazer do the same thing for about a year. When it started to take about 5 min to get it started I replaced the starter and no more problems.
My Vette starter had major heat soak issues, replaced the solenoid and problem still existed. Replaced the entire starter with the same stock one, no problems since. The kicker was that the solenoid was $25 and the entire starter was $35. I really hate doing things twice.
Make sure your battery is good 3+ years old and its probably toast.
Went down to the local NAPA store and bought a new starter for $38.50. They didn't even have to order it, it was sitting on the self. Just got finished installing it and it works great. Thanks Everyone!
