Default Help me identify my carb

Guys, I have 77 (L-48) with a Q-jet manufactured by Carter. Can't seem to find any model no. info on the carb. It's on the bench so it's not like I just can't get a good look. I've seen somewhere that it's supposed to be model # 7158. I have a Carter carbs book on order but my forum searches have come up empty regarding Carter carbs. Any help?

First of all you need a Rochester carburetor book. You can get that here.

http://www.ecklers.com/product.asp?p...&dept%5Fid=224

Carter made some of these when RPD (Rochester Products Devision) ran short on manufacturing capacity. The carburetor is a Rochester design, not Carter.

The ID number is on the drivers side of the carburetor at about the two o'clock position. It's a stamping so you may need to get some carburetor cleaner on the side of the carburetor to see it. It should be something like 17052057.
