I'm in the process of spec'ing out a new small block for my '68. I've talked with several engine builders and they have all recommended that I use the Edlebrock Performer RPM intake to make the best power for the package that I'm putting together. I'm thinking the RPM will not fit underneath the stock small block hood or if it does, I'll have problems finding an air cleaner that will clear the hood. Am I correct?
If the RPM will fit, is there a drop base air cleaner that is required?

I have the RPM Airgap under my hood but I am running a drop base air cleaner and an LT-1/BB hood. With this combo I have about 6/32 hood clearance. Pretty close in my book.

I agree that appears to be pretty close. I've been doing some searching on this forum and it appears that I need at least 3/4" clearance above the float bowl vent tubes to allow for proper air flow. I'm wondering if there is a drop base air cleaner that will still allow this clearance??
