Just overhauled my 350 a couple of months ago. It developed a oil leak at the pan gasket. I removed the 4 piece gasket and installed a one piece. Still have a small leak at the rear main area. How about some thoughts on oil additives to stop leaks. Or should I pull the pan and install another rear main seal. Need some opinions. Thanks
Still need RTV dabs at all 4 corners even with the 1pc gasket. Use an oil rated RTV to seal this area. If its from the rear main, chemicals are just a band-aid fix. You should be able to reuse the silicone one piece should you have to tear back into it.
Some times rotating the rear main seals slightly so that the seal edges are not flush with the main cap to block interface helps with sealing. Hard to do when repairing in vehicle, but can be done. Or some just use oil rated RTV in a thin skim coat in the area between main cap/block/rear seal interace to seal this area.
