Default 202 valves on vortec heads

Ok ordered my 64cc vortec heads today. My question is should I bring them to the machine shop and get them cut for 202 and 1.6 valves or am I wasting my time.

If the heads are new w/new valves ... its a waste of time & $. If the heads NEED new valves, then get the larger ones. Do have the spring heights checked/adjusted to allow for whatever cam lift you're gonna use.

Thanks I should have mentioned the heads are used so they will be redone anyway. I just was curious if the larger valves would be of any useful power.

The bigger valves won't do so much ... you won't gain anything significant in low-to-mid rpm ranges. If your used iron heads have excessive guide wear; have thin-wall bronze "liners" installed.
