Default Door panel installation

How are 69 door panels secured? I'm pretty sure that the 3" sheetmetal screws--some slotted and some phillips, with 1" fender washers--that some jerk off installed, are not the way to go. I have seen on ebay door panel attachment clips. They look like sheetmetal, about 1"x3" and screw to the door and hook on to the inside of the panels somehow. Where would these be placed? Also, there are a couple of 1/2"x1" plastic pads on the door and the old panel that snap together. I've seen these before, and they are sometimes a problem. Any other options or replacements? The 2 screws on the inside pull strap look like the only secure anchors.

You need the '69 assembly instruction manual (AIM); pictures of everything there. You should find two metal clips secured with sheet metal screws and three or four trim screws in the upper rear corner of each panel. You will need to remove the window crank if you do not have power windows and you will need to remove the door opening handle. "Velcro" fasteners on the backside of the trim panel hold the panel in several places.

How do you remove the window crank and how does the door lock come off? Thanks for any help!

I doubt 69's are different, my 76 had c-clips just like every other crank I've pulled off. They were a little bit harder to get to due to the fact that they were closer to the handle itself than the door (which meant there was a nice lip in the way and I could hardly get ahold of the clip!). The locks were the same. Good luck!
