Default 79 headers and alt bracket question

Today I received the first header of the hooker super comp set I bought (second hand), yeah! Unfortunately enough my vette is still in the shop for fuel/ignition issues. I don't know when it'll be back, but it might still be a while. In the mean time I'd like to get all the extra parts I need, like gaskets and such.

Question 1: Do I need to order a new/different alternator bracket or is that not neccessary for a 79?

Question 2: The collector of the other header is rumoured (they deliver it somewhere later this week) to be 4 inches shorter, can this be or did USPS just measure wrong?

Picture of the header:

we put headers in my buddies 79 and the alternator bracketry was fine.....the top bracket is off of the water pump and isn't the bottom bracket part of the PS pump bracketry???

now your AC compressor might be another story.....

I have Hookers (not the ladies ) on my 79 and they fit perfect, did not alter anything just bolted them on. As far as one side 4 in shorter, mine are the exact same. Since they are second hand, did someone mix headers

I checked the pics the seller sent me: both left and right are the same length. Sure hope some clerk didn't mess up, because it's a looooong way back to Texas from where I'm at.

So if I understand this correctly I can just bolt 'm up? If not, Loosing the AC wouldn't be a problem, since it doesn't work anyway, but the waterpump is quite the difference ofcourse.

You shouldn't have to alter or lose anything, I found it best to slip the headers up from underneath and use wire to hold them in place. Lower the car and bolt them up. I've had mine on and off many times since, while I worked on my heads, never any issues.

A stack of washers or a homemade spacer on the forward most header bolt is all you need to mount the AC bracket on a 79. Difference in manifold thickness vs header flange thickness.

Here's a source for billet brackets that are front mount only.
