I just purchased the ignition shielding for my '68 big block (L36). Mine was completely missing. I have a general idea of how it goes together and I have looked at the Assembly Instruction Manual but a few pictures would help a lot. For instance, do the supports bolt onto the rearmost intake manifold bolts on either side? Can anyone oblige?
Also, does anyone know what connects to the clip that is riveted onto the front of the shield? I guess this also means I will have to make sure my distributor is oriented properly as well. Thanks.
I bought this kit last year but it came without any mounting tabs. I decided to wait until the motor rebuild or new motor install to use it. Will it work with taller aftermarket intakes such a super-vic? I may be selling it to someone on the Forum before this is over.

The rear manifold bolts do hold the mounting brackets. There is a left and right bracket so make sure you get them around the right way.
I don't know what that clip does either. It "sort of" touches the aircleaner.
The Vacuum advance can is best at 90 degrees to the engine. This gives a better angle for the tach cable. Move the leads around so #1 lead is in the same position.

It doesn't "connect". It's a contact ground for the Air Cleaner base as far as I can tell. Some NCRS judge will have a correct answer.
Yes the brackets bolt to the intake manifold. L36 (BB) shiielding is far simpler to deal with than SB.
71rdster, thanks for the info on the clip. It never would have dawned on me that this was a grounding clip.
Based on the AIM diagram the threaded studs on the mounting brackets are used to ground the spark plug wire shielding. Since I don't have metal braid shielded wires, I'll let that go until/if I decide to spring for a set of reproduction spark plug wires.

I believe that the rivited ground strap on the front piece of the 3 piece box, springs out on the bottom of small blocks and springs up on big blocks.(3 duece air cleaner) Don't think that ones drops as far on the carbs.
My old memory doesn't remember where I got that from, but I remember it from when I searched for this stuff way back when. Maybe a BB guy will chime in
