On my TH350, the speedo cable / driven gear assembly is held in place by one small bolt. Unscrew the speedo cable, remove the bolt, and pull the driven gear housing out (the driven gear will come out with it). A little fluid will come out so you may want to have a rag or something to plug the hole. There are two gaskets on mine. One is an O-ring on the outside of the housing and the other is an odd shaped O-ring (channel shaped I guess) on the inside of the housing that the shaft goes through. I got both gaskets from the local Chevy dealer.
If your's is like mine, it's not a bad job at all.
