Default 1980 Headlight

After many years of wanting and looking I have my first vette ! A 1980 L82. I love it. I can do most mechanical work but am unfamiliar with the headlight system. I have one light that pops right up and the other won't go up without some help. Any suggestions on where to start to look to solve this?

Go here:

Look under "vacuum trouble" and see if that sheds any light on the situation.

Sounds like th front seal has gone. I would first check the hose that goes to the front part of the trouble actuator for any leaks...if okay check the actuator rod seal.

Raise the lights. Take off the bezel on the problem one. Locate the actuator rod (its the part that goes in and out...it raises and lowers the light). Disconnect it from the headlight door frame. Gently pull back the rubber dust cover boot so you can see the rubber seal. Inspect for tears. Listen for vac leak. This seal is available from Ecklers for about $7.

Do a search here someone had posted very clear instructions yesterday.

Could be a vacuum relay. Raise the hood and between the hood and the front end look directly under the hood surround in the middle. 2 relays(valve looking things)hanging there. Try swapping the top and bottom of the 3 hoses between the 2 relays, side to side. See if that switches which headlight doesn't go up.
