If you can find a good exaust shop...I think custom bent pipes are worthy of consideration. Mine are done in 2 1/4" aluminized into flowmaster mufflers. The flowmasters hide up out of sight.. Its a nice lookin setup. I got the shorter length flowmasters to allow more room for the downbend. These mufflers are litterally...."out of sight" :yesnod:  :yesnod:

2.5 inch duals are good for up to 500 hp (assuming mandrel bends). If you have muffler shop type bends, subtract 10 % (50 hp). Estimate your hp and then multiply by 2.2 and that will give you the flow rating required for your mufflers. Example, 400 hp multiplied by 2.2= 880cfm. So with a dual exhaust system you would need 440 cfm mufflers on each side.

I'm going with the same setup. About how much should I expect to pay for a custom setup if I provide the mufflers?

Install the headers yourself & drive to shop. Several of us have done it.
Just stay out of it around the cops. Dynomax mufflers rec. & crossover pipe.

I guess you might expect to pay 2 to $300 for a custom job if you provide the mufflers. I paid less then 300 for mine which included a welded in crossover pipe just behind the crossmember. First of all make sure you fine a good shop to do the exaust. It will take time to do a good job. Lots of bends and tight clearences. If its done right its a good deal. Ive many people have fitting problems with the pre bent exaust packages. Custom jobs when done right tuck up in there out of sight. Ask for aluminized pipe. My 2 1/4" just fit. I dont know how people are getting away with pre bent bolt on 2 1/2" systems. I dint know...maybe it s me?

Thanks for the responses, it sounds like a custom job is the wa to go in this situation. I will take all of your suggestions into consideration.

Thanks ~matt~

Driving around with open headers is not as dangerous (police wise) as you might think. I've been driving around with open headers on a semi-daily driver with a 10.0:1 388 stroker for over a month now, and I've only gotten pulled over once (no ticket). When I got my first exhaust system put on I had to drive through a smaller suburb and passed at least three cops on the street and they didn't even look twice. Just don't hit the gas when ya pass them ;)
