Hello, I have a 1977 Corvette 350/4 speed when I shut the car off the engine continues to run for about 30 seconds with gen light on before finally shutting off. I did install an electric fan.. one wire grounded to frame and the positive is run right off of the ignition wire to the distributor. Fan shuts off but engine doesnt for approx 30 seconds. Any help would be appreciated..Thanks, Bill
Bill,
I've seen this before. You need a different hot source for the positive side. The positive is being fed by the ignition lead and the engine will continue to stumble on uintil the fan stops spinning after you key off.
Want to check it? Unhook the fan positive lead and see if the car shuts off normally.
Good luck,
Greg

I had a similar problem after installing an MSD igntion. I needed to install a diode (electrical checkvalve) in the alternator line. No problem now. This may work for you too.
