Default Elec Tach Problem

I just retrofitted a tach from a 75 in my 72. Worked fine for a month or so, but now, the needle wanders down to 2000 rpm when I am cruising and it should be around 2700...When I punch it, it then "catches" and spins around correctly...Do I need a new circuit board? I hope not since I am not looking fwd to pulling the dash apart again.

Make sure all connections are tight. Most of the time at the distributor the push on gets loose. Use a Tach filter as well, makes a difference stops spikes
