Vacuum pump
i have been thinking about it for some time now as i really would like to seperate the vacuumsystem from my engine, my main concern is if it's noisy or if it can actually deliver enough vacuum.
I can't decide between an electric vacuum pump or the hydroboost. The hydroboost sounds nice, but if the car stalls, I'm afraid it would be a matter of leg power to stop the vehicle--my wife is small, so i'm worried she would not be strong enough. I'm thinking the electric vacuum pump would run all the time the ignition was on, even if the engine stalled, so there would always be vacuum for the brakes. (Also, the headlights would come up and down much faster. It's quite a wait now for them to lazily work up or down.) I've done a bunch of tweaking on the carb to make more vacuum, but seems like there's only so much that can be done.
Do the electric pumps work like they say they do? Is any brand better than another?
Love to hear opinions.

Two coments. 1) the brakes are now rock hard all the time. much more secure feeling. vacuum is greatly improved. big, big improvement in braking.
2) this thing is loud. really really, unexpectedly loud. and it cuts on and off all the time. I can clearly hear it over the headers into loud flowmaster engine rumble. I can hear it hammering on over the loud stereo. It's a hard pumping noise. Did i mention that this is LOUD? It's wow-I-can't-believe-how-loud-this-is loud. And since it is on any time the ingnition is on, you can't sit with the engine off and listen to the radio anymore, because the pump is banging away.
Totally sucks the enjoyment out of driving. I'm going to take her out and go hydroboost.
Oh, well. It was a learning experience.
