U will be much happier when lars finishes that carb for u. I couldn't believe he only charges 100 bucks. U may have had some internal leaks that will get a fix'n as lar's tests runs the carb before return. And it was a lifesaver not having to deal with carb issues when starting up my eng after new heads and cam - as i'm sure u will find out. Yes that was a good move to get a reliable carb installed before internal mods.
Also no need to upgrade the cam the same time as the heads. U may consider porting and installing the heads then new cam later once u get the bugs out. IMHO heads are an easier R&R than cam.
You should install the springs listed for the cam . Another Mfg.'s springs will do as long as the spring pressure is the same. Too heavy pressure may snap the cam or wipe out the lobes.
i ordered my voodoo yesterday from summit. in talking with the tech i inquired about new springs and told him that a previous owner had installed dbl springs to make it look like an ls6. his response was i may not need springs then but check for coil bind after i install the cam. still lookin for a machinist in this area to do the heads. got my taxes done and convinced the wife we needed some more ponies. great girl she is...
