Default Help With Springs Friday Night

putting all the van steel stuff on tonite and noticed the new "big block" 550 springs are shorter than what came out. ALOT SHORTER!! like 31/4 " shorter. im hoping that because the rate is so much more than stock that they dont compress as much and i know that they are supposed to lower the front end approx and inch but im a bit freaked cause 3 1/4 is a big difference. is it normal? hopefully someone has just finished dinner, sees this post and knows from experience. waiting on pins and needles

not sure about the big block springs, but for the small block the stock springs are much longer and softer than most aftermarket springs. the compressed height should be pretty close

Dont worry about it, the shorter length is made up in the much stiffer spring. Make sure you install them in the upper pocket properly and it will drop your car about an 1" to 2" depends on your engine (aluminum heads, radiator....all make a weight difference)

That is normal. Even the 460s are a little taller than the 550s.
