Hi, I replaced the wiper switch on my 79 and my delay wiper circuit still does not work. Is there a relay under the center console that controls the delay for the wipers? Does anybody know how to repair this issue?
Thanks!
The relay is located in the storage compartment behind the passengers seat. If you can find one they are around $350 and up for a used one.
Hope you were sitting down when you read that. If your wipers quit working completely due to a bad relay you can get a jumper from Lectriclimited for around $15.00 that will restore the slow and fast speeds but no delay.

Sorry didn't catch that you had a 79 in the 80 it's behind the seat.
I have 2 79s and the delay relay is under the center console on the
drivers side on both of'em. My delay quit on one of mine but a new
switch fixed it but appearently not on Yours. There was a relay on
Ebay a couple of weeks ago for 125.00 but it was of course used and
very possibly no good.
The very first thing to do is take the plastic housing off that controller assy, carefully, and note if there are any bad solder connections around the interconnect pins or any other component such as a relay proper.....GM boards are famous for these open solder joints, as are any other brands....

Good tip. I've got a couple of replacement controllers (used) that are just as broken as the original. I was thinking of pulling one appart and having a look inside and at least now I have some idea of what to look for.
