pleated air filter tops
I'm sure there is a correct name for them but i don't know it. I have one of those K&N filtering filter tops on top of my 14x3 KN filter. i hate the way it looks has anyone seen any diffence for themselves in performance from these. i mean my 327 warmed up steet motor with a 650 CFM carb. i should do just find even when i wind it out to 6500 RPM

When I ran my mostly stock 69 BB on a dyno, the guy removed my solid air filter lid for the second run and I picked up about 12 hp. I had a clean paper element in. I think I wasn't getting enough air, or the air wasn't going in streight enough or ??, anyway, I changed out the top to a K&N. Your small block may be different. It would be hard to tell the difference without a dyno.
