700-r4 Skips 2nd Gear???
My uncle has a van with a 700-R4 and is having trouble with it. Im not a tranny guy so I thought Id ask here. It starts in 1st just fine and then shifts into 3rd. He had it checked and its not a solenoid. They are trying to charge 1500 for the rebuild so I thought I ask and see if anyone else has had the same problem. What could be the cause? Thanks! Justin

And he has no 4th gear either, bet on it,....the 2/4 band is shot...either warped from the apply/anchor end, or the lining shot.....maybe even the drum it applies to is bad one way or another.....
I been into my 700 twice over, and so know a little bit, certainly no expert....but from the parts lists any tranny site offers to sell/install for the 700, there is a list of about 200 items up for probable replacement in an overhaul....THAT tell me the tranny is a POS right from the git go....
