I think it was about 110 here the other day and i have no AC and a Black interior. But its Texas so you just get used to i. THe only time my engine even started to get hot was waiting in line at the bank for about 20 min.
That would be last month while crossing the country. I think we hit 105+ a couple of times between Denver and St Louis.
The Corvette never broke 200. My secret: 180 thermostat, BeCool radiator and dual 11" Spal electric fans. Best mod I ever made. Last road trip, I was hitting 230+ at 65. This time 200 at 70+ mph.
About 110 in Palm Springs, Ca. Could not wait to get back to the Pacific Coast so was driving at about the same speed. CHiP pulled me over for speeding. Told him it was to hot out here. Wrote me up for 10 mph over.
Texas, Arizona; nice places to visit but not in an old shark with the shifter boot ripped and no ac.
Last September it got to 113 (record high) my son and I were riding around with the top down. While we were sitting at a traffic light I realized that we were actually cooler sitting still than moving.
Air flow at 60 mph and 113 F acts like a being in a convection oven. We were in it for about 20 minutes and made it back home. When we got there we were dried out like a couple of raisins.
Hottest was 115 back when I had the Corvette in California. My Corvette is black on black, with mirror t-tops, I had just bought it, and the AC didn't work at the time (due to a blown hight pressure hose). It was so hot that I had to put my shirt over my hand just to open the door so the handle wouldn't burn me, and believe it or not, the temperature never went about 180 degrees. Needless to say, when I had it shipped here to FLorida, I had the AC fixed right away at the dealership before summer hit.
Re: Hottest weather driven Vette in? (ZipperShrine)
My Vette (68 roadster) cruises fine in upper 90's heat, even low 100's, as long as it keeps moving and is:
#1, not stuck at very many red lights, and
#2, not trying to travel too fast.
As long as I stay out of the secondaries, I can get where I'm going relatively trouble free. But it'll cough if I try and go full throttle if the weather is truly hot.
Re: Hottest weather driven Vette in? (Steve Straus)
Today's so far! The heat index is 106F in NC and I have a 69 BB w/black interior and non-functional AC! Don't know who gets hotter, me or the car; but I'm the one that's sweating profusely! I really shouldn't complain; mine runs ~210F max, even with missing rubberstripping all around the rad/shround areas plus a badly deformed factory spoiler in front that needs replacing.
Ahhh The 122 degree day I spent it outside working on the railroad southwest of Phoenix.
you should try working around all that rock and steel on a day like that, I think that I was
close to dying, the sweat stopped at about 3 pm. but the work did not..... :mad
I decided to drive my car to work today. Started out with a little cloud coverage. As I drove the clouds started to disappear. I passed a sign that said 98. As the sweat rolled down my back I wondered if I would ever get the ac fixed in my car. I couldn't imagine how hot it was in my car with this black interior and the Nevada sun beating down on me. Looking forward to those 80 deg fall evenings.
