Default Summitt Aluminum radiator ordered

Ordered the summitt aluminum radiator 31X19 yesterday. Has anyone got photos of the radiator hoses they used for this generic install? I have installed a 90 caprice serpentine setup. Also any advice for electric fans and the controller would be appreciated. I plan on refurbing the A/C so I am thinking of using the spal 11" dual fans and a spal controller although this is the priciest way to go. I have read some on using a late model camaro dual fan setup but have not read how many amps these fans pull and how well they cool. Oh yea this is in a 79.

Flex-A-Lite 2x12" fans. I found the Spal temp sensor & wring to work the best

Had to install the long pump because that is what is used with the serpentine setup off of the caprice. Really like the setup and cost me 100 from the pull apart. Bought a reverse flow high volume pump from Summit.

You will probably have a prob with the bottom outlet being straight on the generic fit rad. I talked to a local rad. shop and he said he could cut and weld the elbow on like the original for $35. I tried the 31x19 last night that a friend had but it was too wide for my 68'. Looks like a 29x18 is what I will have to find. Does anyone know if a 19" tall will work?

I thought the 68 had a much narrower radiator than the later years

Yes,it seems to. I noticed that even with the stock (assuming mine is stock) rad. contacts my hood on the driver side. Maybe the new one will be better.

I'm seriously considering a take-off serpentine setup for a 406 I'm assembling for my 71.

Did you use the following from 90 caprice: A/C comp & brackets, Alt & brackets, P/S pump & brackets?

Do you have taller than stock valve covers? Any clearance issues with the 90 caprice setup? At valve covers? ... hood? ... exhaust? ... crossmember? ... anywhere?

Thanks, J

yes yes yes and yes. I used the complete setup. The brackets actually set the accessories forward of the valve covers so there is no interferenc there. I had to modify the return line on the back of the power steering pump because it pointed upwards. The caprice sets lower than other stock GM serpentine setups so there is no interference with the hood. At least not on my 79. I know a guy who installed a set up off of a S10 blazer. That bracketry sets taller though it still does not contact the hood it doesn't look as good to me. Be sure if you do get a pull off setup that you get all of the support brackets that run down to the exhaust for support and also over to the intake manifold.

Do a search on corvettefaq. I did a write-up on this exact thing years ago, including the hoses, etc.

Chris: I checked there ... when I clicked on their link to serpentine belt conversion ... http://www.corvettefaq.com/c3/serp.html ... I get the dreaded "HTPP 404 Not Found ---The page cannot be found" message.
