Was planning on replacing front springs (cut & lower). While I am doing this, what parts should I examine for replacement. Car has 27K miles on it, but if I am taking things apart, what should I consider for replacement? Thanks in advance.
I would look at everything before I took anything apart, balljoint's-wheel bearings, idler arm etc... basically anything you can inspect. Wouldn't think too much would be wrong, but parts do strange things when left sitting in one place for extended periods of time. May want to get a repair manual to use for reference on how to check for wear and excessive play in the front end components.
I'll echo what ltlevil said. Also, have a look at all the a-arm bushings. Even with low mileage they could be in bad shape. Upgrade your sway bar bushings to polyurethane (although that can be done easily at any time).
I just replaced my upper and lower control arm bushings, upper and lower ball joints, power steering cylinder and control valve. Actually taking the bushings out of the control arm and replacing is about equal to the PITA that it is to do the Control Arms....
Car felt real good for the day I drove it before it went in to get painted.
